Charlotte women’s tennis claimed their fourth-straight victory and extended their season-best winning streak after recording a 5-3 triumph at UNC Greensboro. The 49ers now hold a 9-9 record and six wins against ITA Carolina Region opponents.

“I’m proud of the way we worked today,” head coach Michaela Gorman said. “This was a great team win against a tough UNC Greensboro squad.”

The 49ers jumped out to an early lead with doubles victories from tandems Macy Vonderschmidt/Tyler Baker and Megan Smith/Sierra Stone. Each duo topped their opponent 6-3, clinching a point rendering a DNF in Victoria Pahlett/Tai Martin’s No. 1 doubles matchup.

Charlotte carried the momentum into singles as Pahlett, Vonderschmidt, Baker and Smith each tallied a victory.

Pahlett won her first set 6-2 before Soumeya Anane was forced to retire due to an injury in the second set.

The 49ers will aspire to improve upon their season-best winning streak as they take on Wofford, Saturday, April 16. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
