Coming off a strong victory over WKU, the Charlotte 49ers embark on their final road trip of the season beginning with a stop in San Antonio, Texas to battle UTSA. This will be the first matchup between the two teams and the third all-time in a series tied 1-1. Additionally, the 49ers now control their own destiny as they sit alone at fourth in the C-USA standings. Finishing off the season on a high note will be a priority for head coach Cara Consuegra as she and the team eye the double-bye in the C-USA tournament in two weeks time. Tip-off is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m.

CARRYING THE MOMENTUM

Charlotte is on a roll at the moment. The 49ers winners of their last four and have only lost one in their last seven dating back to the final week in January. Furthermore, they just knocked off No. 2 WKU on the weekend to take sole advantage of the fourth spot in the conference standings. Consuegra revealed that she was very impressed with her team in the way they responded following the victory. The 49ers practiced hard Monday, Feb. 22 and didn’t show any signs of celebration. The team appears to be focused and knows what needs to be done in order to finish off their last road trip on a high note.

UTSA SCOUTING REPORT

The Roadrunners are another C-USA team who’s statistics are fools gold. UTSA enters the matchup with the 49ers carrying a 4-11 record in conference, just two games above the bottom spot in the standings. However, their record doesn’t tell the Roadrunners’ complete story. UTSA has competed in each game only losing by double-digits a handful of times. Additionally, they boast one of the best field goal percentage defenses in the conference. Despite holding the most prolific offense in C-USA, Charlotte’s task at hand won’t be an easy one and they’ll have to summon a complete team performance to defeat the Roadrunners.
