Police Blotter: Reports filed in August

This police blotter is updated every Sunday throughout the month of August. 

Accident

Aug. 6

Union Deck – While attempting to back into a parking space vehicle one struck vehicle two.

Aug. 12

Student Union – Subject was arrested after it was determined that he had previously been trespassed from campus.

Aug. 19

Burson Building Parking Lot – While backing, driver of vehicle one struck the rear of vehicle two. Vehicle two was parked and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 22

Cameron Boulevard – While traveling on Cameron Boulevard. the driver of a bus struck a pedestrian who was parked on the shoulder of the lane. The pedestrian sustained a minor injury to his arm and refused medical treatment.

SAC Loading Dock – An anonymous subject reported a hit and run. Officers were able to identify both the driver of vehicle that left the scene and the owner of the vehicle that was struck. Driver of vehicle one received a state citation and a campus appearance ticket.

Aug. 23

Facilities Drive – While backing, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. No injuries were reported.

East Deck One – Officers responded to a hit and run. Vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

West Deck – Officers responded to a hit and run. Vehicle two was traveling north into the West Deck while vehicle one was traveling East towards level three when they collided. Driver of vehicle one continued driving.

East Deck – While attempting to park, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. Vehicle two was parked and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Barnhardt Lane – While diving a campus utility vehicle, driver of vehicle one struck a pole. No injuries were reported.

East Deck – While backing vehicles one and two struck each other. No injuries were reported.

Martin Village Road – Officers responded to a hit and run. Vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

Lot Six – Officers responded to a hit and run. Vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

Aug. 24

Phillips Road and Mac Everett Way -Officers responded to a hit and run. Vehicle one was making a right turn while vehicle two was making a left turn when the vehicles collided. Vehicle one failed to stop and was located later. No injuries were reported.

Union Deck – While backing out of a marked parking spot, vehicle one struck the side of vehicle two. Vehicle two was
traveling straight in the deck when the collision occurred. No injuries were reported.

West Deck – Officers responded to a hit and run. The vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

Aug. 25

Cone Deck – While backing into a marked parking space, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. No injuries were reported.

East Deck Two – Driver of vehicle one struck the rear of vehicle two while traveling in East Deck 2. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 26

Lot 16 – Officers took a report of a hit and run. Vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

CRI Deck – While backing, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. Vehicle two was parked and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Lot 25 – While pulling into a marked parking space, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. Vehicle two was parked and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 27

North Deck – Officers took an anonymous report of a hit and run. Bother drivers of vehicles one and two were contacted. No injuries were reported.

Lot 6 – While pulling into a marked parking space, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. Vehicle two was parked and occupied. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 30

Van Landingham Road – While turning left onto Van Landingham Road, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 31

Chancellor’s Place – Driver of vehicle one stated he took his eyes off the road and turned too wide around a turn and struck a sign. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

East Deck – Officer took a report of a hit and run. The vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

Lot 5A – Officer took a report of a hit and run. The vehicle was struck while it was parked and unoccupied.

West Deck – While turning left in the deck, driver of vehicle one struck vehicle two. No injuries were reported.

Mary Alexander Roundabout – Driver of vehicle two stated that while traveling in the roundabout on Mary Alexander, driver of vehicle one struck his vehicle and failed to stop. No injuries were reported.

Arrest

Aug. 13

8723 Cameron Boulevard – Subject was arrested after it was determined that she had previously been trespassed from campus.

Aug. 18

8730 Phillips Road  – Officers responded in reference to an individual sleeping behind a shed in the back of field 13. A computer check revealed that the subject had an outstanding order for arrest.

Moore Hall – Subject stated that after opening her door, a known person forced his way in and physically assaulted her. Officer did not observe any visible injuries. Officer had MEDIC respond and subject was transported to CMC University for evaluation.

Aug. 22

Hunt Hall – Officers responded in reference to an odor of marijuana. A search of a room revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia. Subject was arrested. He also received a campus appearance ticket.

Aug. 23

Lot 23 – Subject was arrested after it was determined that he had an order for arrest. Subject was trespassed.

Aug. 25

Courtyard Lynch/Wallis Hall – Officers responded in reference to a call and arrested two individuals on drugs, weapons, and stolen property charges. Neither individual was associated with UNC Charlotte. Both subjects were trespassed.

Breaking and Entering

Aug. 24

STORRS Building – Unknown person(s) forcibly entered the STORRS building and removed computers that were left
secured in a private area.

Driving while License Revoked/Stop sign violation

Aug. 3

Intersection of Cameron Boulevard at Martin Village Road – Officer issued a North Carolina state citation for driving while license revoked during a routine traffic stop for a stop sign violation.

Drug Violation

Aug. 19

Van Landingham/John Kirk – Subject received a state citation for being in possession of“marijuana roaches.” The subject had no affiliation with the university. He was trespassed.

Lot 15 – During a traffic stop, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana paraphernalia. A state citation and campus appearance ticket were issued.

Aug. 30

Hunt Hall – Subject received a state citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hunt Hall – Subject received a campus appearance ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Expired Registration Violation 

Aug. 3

West Deck – Officer issued a North Carolina state citation for expired registration.

Information Only

Aug. 11

Van Landingham Glen – Officers responded in reference to a report of an intoxicated individual. Subject was trespassed.

Aug. 24

Laurel Hall – Subject spoke to an officer regarding a possible assault that occurred in April 2017.

Outside Prospector – Subject reported that she was struck by a segway. Subject stated that the operator of the segway
apologized and left the scene.

Larceny

Aug. 1

Bike Rack in front of Martin Hall – An unknown subject forcibly removed victim’s bicycle secured to a designated public bike rack.

Aug. 2

Barnard Hall – An unknown subject entered a restricted area removing a PlayStation 4 gaming console and four controllers without permission.

Aug. 4

Student Union – An unknown subject removed victim’s cell phone from a public area.

Aug. 6

Student Union – An unknown subject removed victim’s laptop and credit cards left unattended in a public.

Student Union – An unknown subject removed victim’s property left unsecured in a public area.

Aug. 24

McMillian Greenhouse – Unknown person(s) removed a banner that was left unattended in a public area.

Colvard – Unknown person(s) removed item from the victim’s office without permission. Item was left secured in a private area.

Aug. 27

Prospector – Unknown person(s) removed subject’s cell phone that was left unsecured and charging in a public area.

Liquor Law Violation 

Aug. 20 

Moore Hall – Subject received a state citation and campus appearance ticket for under aged alcohol consumption.

Aug. 21

Miltimore Hall – Subject received a state citation for under aged alcohol consumption. Subject has no affiliation with campus. He was trespassed.

Aug. 27

Hunt Hall – Subject received a state citation and campus appearance ticket for underage consumption. Subject was transported to CMC
University.

Outside the Rowe building – While checking exterior doors at Atkins Library, an officer noticed a group of people. The officer asked the group to stop and observed one of the subject to be stumbling and unable to walk unassisted. The officer interviewed all subjects and administered a portable breath test to each. The breath test resulted in four state citations, two campus appearance tickets for underage consumption and one subject was transported to CMC University.

University Village Apartments – Officer assisted CMPD officer with an intoxicated student. Subject was issued a state citation and a campus appearance ticket for underage consumption.

NR – Assist Other Agency

Off Campus – During an on campus investigation, it was determined that a student’s property was taken from his residence off campus. The student was advised to contact CMPD.

Traffic Stop for Revoked Tag

Aug. 8

COE Lane – Subject was issues a North Carolina state citation for failure to carry the required vehicular insurance mandated by the state of North Carolina.

Vandalism 

Aug. 28

Lot 25 – Subject stated that when he returned to his vehicle, there were several scratches on it.
