Former starting quarterback for the Charlotte 49ers, Kevin Olsen, was arrested Sunday afternoon following allegations of sexual assault.

He has been suspended from Charlotte Athletics, pending further investigation. The reported assault occurred off-campus and was “within an existing relationship,” according to a statement from the University.

This is the second week in a row there has been a sexual assault case involving students of the university.

Olsen has one year of eligibility remaining. Stay tuned to Niner Times for more information about the ongoing situation.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office, Olsen is being charged with three counts of second degree forcible rape, cyberstalking and assault on a woman.

“We are aware of the situation with Kevin. In light of his arrest, we can let you know that Kevin has been suspended from all athletic activities. We aren’t able to comment further due to the current investigation,” head coach Brad Lambert said in a statement.

According to a article from the Charlotte Observer, the 23-year-old female victim had injuries including bruises and scratches. The incident occurred between 3:30 and 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
