Charlotte started the game off strong, scoring 11 of the first 17 points over the span of the first five minutes.
After that, UAB went on a 14-3 run, taking a 20-14 lead with just over twelve minutes left in the first half.
The 49ers trailed UAB, 39-29 with three minutes left in the first half, but were able to tighten the gap as they scored six of the final eight points cutting UAB’s lead to 41-35 at the end of the first.
