The Scoop: Student Government Association’s news update for June 28

| June 28, 2016

Last week Student Body President Fahn Darkor participated in a discussion and planning meeting for the new Official Ring Program at UNC Charlotte. The unveiling event is scheduled for September 16. The new official ring will be available to seniors graduating in the fall.

Darkor also met with the adviser for the Student 49er Club (previously Niner Nation Gold). Together they began planning a “dorm storming” event to involve student organizations in helping generate campus spirit at the first fall football game.

Darkor and former Student Body President, Mitch Daratony, attended an end-of-semester athletics banquet. They are looking forward to improvements coming to Halton Arena next year, including a new jumbotron.

On June 20, the Student Government Association (SGA) received their new giveaways with the official organization logo. We are excited to be dispersing new water bottles, Class of 2020 lanyards and SGA t-shirts. These packages will be given out at Niner Nights and at the Student Organization Showcase in the fall.

The Publicity & Outreach Committee and Executive Press Secretary are collaborating on a social media campaign showcasing members of SGA on their summer adventures. Follow @uncc_sga to learn more about what your representatives are up to!

We are making improvements to the SGA website. Visit sga.uncc.edu this summer to see some of the changes.

Due to SGA’s lighter agenda during the summer, The Scoop will run bi-weekly until classes resume in August. We are always looking to improve and welcome your feedback at studentbodyvp@uncc.edu.
