SGA update: April 28

The UNC Charlotte Student Government Association (SGA) had their weekly legislative meeting April 28.

Different Together

The Different Together Art Reception and Panel Discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception at the Student Union Movie Theater, followed with a discussion at 7 p.m. There will be food and drinks at the event.

New student organizations

Three new student organizations have been approved by the senate. These organizations include United Muslim Relief whose purpose is to raise awareness for victims of poverty, catastrophes and disasters.

Another new student organization, Charlotte Hack, plans to represent UNC Charlotte at Major League Hacking and any other Hackathon competitions.

The Senate also approved Delta Sig Phi Fraternity.

Approved Grants

A financial bill supporting student organizations has been approved.  Various student organizations received a total of $14,923.35 in grant money.

Confirming the Executive Cabinet

The Senate approved the following people for positions on the Executive Cabinet for the 2016-17 academic year: Lauren Bullock as the Secretary for Diversity Affairs, Mitch Daratony as the Secretary for Internal Affairs, Vincent Cahill as the Secretary for State and National Affairs, Reggie Cobbins as the Secretary for Student Affairs and Robert Russell as the Secretary for Academic Affairs.
