Greek organizations to host Valentine’s Day 5k

| February 13, 2015

Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Alpha Epsilon are hosting the Cupid Shuffle 5k on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. The race will be at Frank Liske Park in Concord.

The 5k will benefit Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy, domestic violence awareness education and prevention. Specifically, the proceeds will go to the Safe Alliance Domestic Violence Shelter of Charlotte as well as the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.

Ricci Pelland, Alpha Chi Omega’s vice president of philanthropy says anyone can participate in the 5k.

“We have all kinds of students, greek and non, parents, siblings, extended family, boyfriends/girlfriends, sorority advisors and their husbands, and even participants from other universities. This event means the world to us and we want to share it with anyone willing to spend part of their Valentine’s Day with us,” said Pelland.

Pelland said participants should expect to have a great day.

“They should expect an absolute blast. There will be DJs, vendors giving away prizes and coupons, corn hole and other fun games and of course amazing prizes for our winners,” said Pelland.
