Beauty review: The Body Shop body wash

| September 10, 2014

Move over coffee, college students have something new to help them in the a.m.

Being your average sleep deprived college student, I often wake up groggy and tired in the morning. The daily debate in my head begins: do I have to go to that 8 a.m. class or should I just miss this one and sleep in?

But recently, I realized it wasn’t too excruciating to wake up for those morning classes. Upon a quick reflection of my morning routine, I noticed one small change had made the difference. Switching to The Body Shop shower gel for my morning showers.

Each person’s preference in scent varies and The Body Shop caters to that. The 15 body washes ranges from light floral to zesty fruit and everything in between.

For quick morning showers, the pink grapefruit and satsuma shower gels are great. The invigorating fruity smells of both are just the thing to start your day off right, while honeymania is the perfect scent for those showers after a long day at the library or the gym. The slightly sweet and floral scent has an aroma therapeutic effect really relieving you of any tension and helping to relax.

Also these shower gels gently moisturize the skin so when you step out of the shower, your skin is left feeling soft and supple. None of that rubbery squeaky feeling you get with other body washes that strip your skin.

The product comes out as a liquid-gel consistency, similar to hand soap, but lathers up very nicely.

One recommendation when using body wash or shower gels is to use exfoliating gloves. They really make a difference in your skin. You can get them at a very affordable price almost anywhere. Target, Walmart, Ulta and most drugstores carry them for about $3-$4.

Start by dropping a quarter sized amount of body wash on the exfoliating gloves and scrub your body in circular motions. This will help to rid your body of dead skin cells, revealing brighter and healthier skin.

The Body Shop has locations in various malls throughout the Charlotte area, including Northlake Mall and Southpark Mall. In addition, the beauty store Ulta carries The Body Shop products.

These shower gels come in various sizes. The ‘mini’ bottle contains 2.0 fl oz and retails for $4 dollars. This is a great option if you want to just test out the product, or if you just simply can’t decide on one scent and would rather purchase the mini bottles of the various scents you like. The original size bottle has 8.4 fl oz and costs $8. Lastly, the jumbo size has 25.3 fl oz for $15. This is a great option for those who have decided on the one scent that they love and cannot get enough of because this bottle will last for a long time.

Next time you’re out of body wash, consider purchasing The Body Wash shower gel. Once you choose your perfect scent and see how well it cleans the skin, I doubt you’ll ever go back to your old body washes.
